Dear Parents

Our children constantly share shallow glimpses of themselves through social media. After two decades of guiding students to tell their most effective stories, I see how today’s culture of self-disclosure undermines how kids connect with colleges. My coaching services help young people share their deeper, authentic selves in the written admissions essay form. Preparation pays off: 92% of my clients last season earned admission to their preferred schools.

Admission committees use scores, grades, and citizenship to gauge the applicant’s legitimacy. But they rely on the essays to get to know a student and their fit with the school. Colleges truly want to know the real, often complicated version of your kid.

Genuine self-disclosure makes many of us uneasy. The high-stakes of the college admission essay can amplify the discomfort for many students and their families. Young people often doubt that they have stories worth sharing. They often struggle to reveal themselves in a self-possessed, yet humble, manner. College essays also challenge parents: as our kids’ advocates and historians, it’s hard for some parents to stay out of the process. Yet they need for parents to stay out so that they can tell their own stories.

Peace and ease form the crucial elements to crafting effective college essays. I build rapport with my students and create a breathing space so they can tell their stories. I coach them to develop essays that reveal their genuine character. As an applied anthropologist, I guide my student‘s deep investigations of each school so they can create effective supplements. I invite you to visit the testimonials on my website to learn the many reasons why families find that working with me as a college essay coach is so satisfying.

I look forward to inspiring and guiding your child through this important chance to shine. I am currently scheduling coaching sessions for summer and early fall. Let’s get your child on their chosen path before senior year gets ahead of them.
